This client didn’t keep all of his lifestyle clean in between. The week before his follow-up, he had a fun weekend with the boys and overdid on everything.
I want to make a couple of points here.
Life is not a game of all or nothing. It is a game of finding habits that help you progress in your goals, managing the unexpected, finding peace in the process, and choosing not to stay in the pit.
One day of crazy eating, one week of not working out or moving, one anything is not likely to throw your whole body and life into a tailspin.
It’s following that one day of crazy eating with a month of it, one week of not working out with several weeks of it, and jumping into the pit of despair and shame after not “hitting the mark”.
PERFECTION is not the goal!!! PROGRESS IS!
This client still showed progress even with the crazy weekend. The thing we needed to ditch was the shame that was desperately trying to derail the progress.
Success is not just a goal, it’s a journey.
